Esports Scotland Partners With Dundee And Angus College

The competitive gaming organization Esports Scotland recently unveiled a partnership with Dundee and Angus College as the two parties look to become the home of esports in Scotland. To celebrate the new partnership, Simon Hewitt (the principal of Dundee and Angus College) broke ground on a newly branded esports classroom on the college’s campus with James Hood (the founder of Esports Scotland).

And, if that wasn’t enough, a multi-purpose arena is being proposed in Dundee as a way to host major esports events. If all goes according to plan, the arena should be ready by 2025. Additionally, Esports Scotland is expected to launch its own esports training facility at the school’s Gardyne Campus in the near future.

“As with physical sports, esports teams have coaches, psychologists, managers, events teams, the lot. There are also lots of disciplines with sports creating their own communities. But of course, not everyone who gets into esports will become, or aspire to be, the next Andy Murray or Andy Robertson,” said James Hood. “The industry, including the new Dundee arena, will need a broader workforce to support and future-proof esports, from broadcasters and coaches to events and digital marketing experts.”

Dundee and Angus College is a further education institution based in Dundee, Scotland. With a student body of almost 23,000 people, it is one of the largest schools in the country.
