The Hartlepool College of Further Education is making an effort to introduce esports courses to the school. This Level 3 Esports Qualification, for 16- to 18-year-olds, is scheduled to begin this coming September and run through July of 2023.
This career-focused course will be comprised of four mandatory units of study. The first will be an introduction to esports, followed by a unit covering esports skills, strategies, and analysis. The third unit will emphasize enterprise and entrepreneurship in the esports industry. The last part of the course will focus on the health, wellbeing, and fitness of esports athletes.
“It’s definitely a challenge trying to raise attention to the heavily under-appreciated employability skills that can be developed through esports,” said course leader Paul Donnelly. “Opening this qualification was the brave step needed to give students a safe and structured path into the exciting new career opportunities of esports.”
The Hartlepool College of Further Education was founded in 1897. This higher-education institution is based in Northeast England.
