The Mobile Premier League announced it has earmarked nearly $260 million for a two-month-long, multi-sport online mobile gaming tournament that will be known as the Great Indian Gaming League. The tournament, which launched on March 24th, is expected to see 3.5 million winners across multiple games, with various prize pool amounts allocated for each victor accordingly.
“As the largest multi-game mobile gaming tournament, GIGL will provide access to mobile esports to a vast and diverse group of gamers across the country in line with our vision to democratize esports,” said Namratha Swamy, Country Head for Mobile Premier League. “We are confident that the tournament will see millions of players participating from across the country.”
The company expects to see 7 million players participate across different categories of games during the tournament. It will run from March 24th to May 29th, 2022.
