Malaysia’s gaming industry has achieved a major milestone with the launch of Metabond’s Soulbond: Rebels Arise, the country’s first blockchain-led massively multiplayer roleplaying game utilizing non-fungible tokens. This endeavor marks the very first game of this kind to be developed entirely by Malaysians.
“When people talk about digital games in Malaysia, esports come to mind,” said Datuk Hii, Founder of Metabond. “People have a misconception that Malaysians only love playing games, they don’t know how to develop them.”
The game is still under development, but the minting of its first game-related NFT offering, the Ren Empire, began with the Student Privilege List on March 19th, with public sales beginning on March 27th.
Metabond is expected to proceed with four more game-related NFT offerings in the upcoming months before the game is completed.
