Riot Games recently filed a lawsuit against Moonton alleging the company’s hit game (Mobile Legends: Bang Bang) is a rip-off of Riot’s mobile title, League of Legends: Wild Rift. Riot “seeks to stop Moonton from continuing its deliberate and sustained campaign to free ride on Riot’s highly valuable rights in the mobile video game League of Legends: Wild Rift and related content.”
“Moonton has updated MLBB to copy extensive expressive elements from Wild Rift, continuing its cycle of knowing appropriation of Riot’s intellectual property,” the lawsuit claims.
This is the second time that Riot has sued Moonton. Previously these two sides went to court because Riot alleged that Moonton’s Mobile Legends: 5v5 MOBA was a copy of League of Legends.
Regardless of these complaints and allegations, Moonton has continued to grow into one of the world’s most recognizable mobile gaming companies. MLBB is the 67th-ranked strategy game in North America on both the Google Play and Apple App Store.
