The NPD Group released its sales report for April 2022, which highlights the best-selling games and hardware during the month. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, came in at number one, marking the first time since March 2021 that a Nintendo game didn’t occupy the top slot. The popular Elden Ring came in second, with MLB The Show 22 in third.
Of note, The Skywalker Saga broke Lego franchise sales records, reaching the highest launch-month dollar sales for any game in their history. After just one month, The Skywalker Saga is already the sixth best-selling Lego game of all time.
The console market saw huge gains thanks to an improved supply of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which resulted in a 16% jump to $343 million. Meanwhile, the gaming accessories market declined 10% but still made $151 million.
