Registration has just closed for the second season of Esports Premier League, which also recently named global smartphone brand TECNO Mobile as its presenting sponsor. The Battlegrounds Mobile India tournament will be played in two separate stages right off the bat, online qualifiers and an invitational qualifier to shortlist the top 18 teams. Next, the first 12 teams (the top two from the online event and top ten from the invitational qualifiers) will go the final stage and compete for the top two spots. The next 15 teams will compete for the other three final spots, which will have two directly invited teams competing and vying for the title. The winner will take home the lion’s share of the $250,000 prize pool
“The first season of the Esports Premier League was a great success and this time we will try to make it even bigger,” said Vishwalok Nath, Director of ESPL. “We are thrilled to have TECNO Mobile on board as the presenting sponsor for this event. Just like how TECNO Mobile is committed to unlocking the best contemporary technologies for its customers, we are also committed to providing a world-class platform for Indian talent through this league in order to develop the Indian esports ecosystem and take it to the next level.”
TECNO Mobile plans to leverage their sponsorship by promoting its upcoming smartphone, TECNO Pova 3, during the tournament.
The first season of ESPL netted more than one million registrations and 100 million-plus video views from the YouTube and Facebook channels of India Today and Aaj Tak.
