Nazara Technologies subsidiary NODWIN Gaming has partnered with Disney Star to air the Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series on the latter’s Star Sports 2 channel in Hindi, Tamil, and English. The new series will air for two-three hours daily from June 24th to July 17th.
“During the IPL media rights auction, we saw digital taking off,” said Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming. “Digital’s cumulative value is higher than TV. But as an (esports) industry that lives on digital, we often don’t find validation and legitimacy. As an industry we wanted to break the digital glass ceiling. We thought that if esports is a sport then why are we not sitting on a sports channel.”
To boost the channel, NODWIN has plans to bring in new sponsors, ten of which are near finalization, according to Rathee, who added that in the three-hour window when games will air, an extra 30-40 minutes of ad inventory will be made available.
