Sony announced that it would be scrapping Accolades later this year, one of the PlayStation 5’s flagship features, because no one was using it. Accolades were introduced to the PS5 as way of enabling players to acknowledge each others efforts in online games.
The feature allowed you to award teammates and opponents badges based on playstyle, but it seems that not many users were all that interested.
“In fall of 2022, the Accolades feature on PS5 will no longer be supported,” wrote Sony in a blog post on the official PlayStation website. “The feature hasn’t seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another.”
The company also noted that engagement across its consoles has been “much lower than anticipated” of late, and that it’s working on new initiatives and loyalty programs to increase the amount of playtime owners invest across both the PS5 and PS4.
