Some of the biggest video game franchises ever created might soon be available on Game Pass. This comes after Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed In a September 1st blog post that Call of Duty, Diablo, and Overwatch would eventually be coming to Game Pass while also being released on PlayStations on the same day.
“We intend to make Activision-Blizzard’s much-loved library of games – including Overwatch, Diablo, and Call of Duty – available in Game Pass and to grow those gaming communities,” Spencer said. “By delivering even more value to players, we hope to continue growing Game Pass, extending its appeal to mobile phones and any connected device.”
Unfortunately, it’s still not clear when the Activision library will be integrated into Game Pass. Spencer didn’t mention an exact date or details regarding the specific titles from the franchises that will be coming to Game Pass.
Either way, it doesn’t seem like anything will be happening until Microsoft’s $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision-Blizzard is closed. At this time, the deal has been receiving an intense amount of scrutiny from several countries and consumer boards, including the United Kingdom’s Competition and Markets Authority. However, Phil Spencer recently said he ”feels good” about the progress being made on the deal.
