Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, recently hosted the Next World Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel on September 7th and 8th. The first edition of the conference, which the Saudi Esports Federation put on, saw thousands of influential figures from the gaming industry come together to discuss new opportunities in stakeholding, business, and government. This event also marked the conclusion of the Gamers8 Festival.
Beyond the aforementioned topics, the Next World Forum also held discussions about “gaming for good,” an initiative based on the idea that gaming can be used as a “force for good.” The presence of world-famous charities like UNICEF and UNHR at the event further drove home the global gaming community’s support for good causes.

“Our mantra for digital wellbeing is that we should be in control of our devices and they shouldn’t be in control of us. There are consequences to anything that you use excessively,” said Abdullah Al Rashid, the Director of the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra).
The Next World Forum also signified the beginning of two new collaborations. During the two-day event, the Saudi Esports Federation announced that it had signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs): one with the Korea Esports Association, and one with the Thailand Esports Federation.

“Together I hope we can foster the sustainable development and betterment of esports between our two countries and hoping to unite to the next world of the sector,” the Thailand Esports Federation said.
