Are Xbox And Playground Games Butting Heads Over Fable?

Xbox and Playground Games have differing ideas about how they want to approach the upcoming Fable game for next-gen consoles. Recently, the head of Microsoft Studios, Matt Booty, had a chance to speak at the PAX West 2022 conference that was held in Seattle from September 2nd to the 5th. During this event, Booty explained that developer Playground Games was doing so many cool things with the new Fable title that he wanted them to share their every time he gets a sneak peek of the game.

“Part of my job is giving air cover to the team,” Booty said. “They don’t want to show stuff early before it’s ready to go, but if there’s one game where that’s kind of flipped around, where every time I see something I say ‘we should show this,’ it’s Fable. Because there’s a lot of cool stuff.”

Despite his excitement, Booty said that the development team has made it quite clear that they will not be showing anything off from the game “until it’s ready.”

Even though we won’t get an early look at the game, Booty did provide us with an update on its development. He said Playground Games will be bringing the same craft and dedication that it brought to Forza Horizon 5, another hit Playground title that came out last year.

Sadly, we still don’t have a clear release date for the next Fable game. So, for now, fans will have to continue to exercise patience before we get a clearer idea of what the game will look and feel like.
