On September 22nd, Big Games Machine released a report that surveyed 160 gaming industry writers. According to this survey, almost 75% of responders said it was unlikely that they would cover blockchain gaming news over the next six to 12 months.
20% of responders said it was somewhat likely they would cover blockchain gaming. This means that only 5% of those surveyed said it was very likely they cover blockchain gaming news over the next six to 12 months. This is a fairly significant development since the Blockchain gaming market grew by 2000% from the first quarter of last year to the first quarter of this year.
Journalists said that they don’t think their audiences will be interested or receptive to blockchain gaming news coverage. The report showed that some journalists had “a general lack of interest in covering blockchain games, while others were more passionate in the way they expressed their dislike of blockchain games.”
“I’ve yet to see any legitimate or compelling use for integrating blockchain options into games,” one responder said. Another journalist explained that “the market is flooded, and we don’t see much readership on articles about blockchain games.”
