Kieran Holmes-Darby recently filed a legal complaint against Excel Esports, the United Kingdom-based gaming organization he helped co-found. This comes after Holmes-Darby left the organization this past January. He is now claiming that he was wrongfully dismissed from Excel Esports.
When his departure was first announced, it seemed as though the two sides had mutually agreed upon this decision. However, almost nine months later, that no longer appears to be the case.
When this legal complaint was originally filed, an employment tribunal was expected to be held on October 11th and 12th. But, that hearing did not end up taking place because the two sides had agreed to a settlement prior to those dates.
“Both Kieran and Excel Esports are pleased that we’ve been able to find a solution to the reported case,” reads a joint statement from Holmes-Darby and Excel’s CEO, Wouter Sleijffers. “We share a joint passion and ambition for Excel Esports and we are looking forward to collaborating on its continued success.”
Kieran Holmes-Dary co-founded Excel Esports with his brother, Joel, in 2014. Since then, the organization has emerged as one of the most recognizable gaming entities in England with teams competing in hit titles like League of Legends, Fortnite, and VALORANT.
