On October 4th, X1 Esports and Entertainment closed its acquisition deal of the Rocket League community Octane.GG. Prior to this, X1 had announced plans to acquire Octane’s assets on September 15th. This deal is reportedly worth $35,000.
This is X1’s third closed acquisition following its recent IPO. On August 5th it acquired Tyrus LLC followed by ShiftRLE on August 10th. According to a press release, Octane.GG will be fully integrated into ShiftRLE to create a “new destination for Rocket League fans.”
“We are enthusiastic to have closed on the Octane acquisition,” said Mark Elfenbein, X1’s CEO. “As Rocket League continues to grow in global popularity, owning multiple assets within this esport allows the opportunity to launch an all-encompassing Rocket League destination site containing breaking news, statistics, video highlights, and fantasy sports.”
Rocket League has emerged as one of the world’s preeminent esports titles since its launch in 2015. According to ActivePlayer.io, over 87 million people have played Rocket League in the last 30 days.
