The Kansas City Pioneers esports team recently added a new member to its roster of ambassadors: NFL offensive lineman Trey Smith. Smith’s addition to the Pioneers was officially announced in a video that was posted to social media on September 20th.
“Gaming is a huge part of who I am,” Smith said. “I just want to do everything I can in my power to bring more exposure to esports and gaming in my city. Gaming and sports go hand in hand in my opinion. You look at sports, it’s an ultimate equalizer in terms of bringing people together, then gaming, in the same sense is the same way.”
Smith is the third member of the Kansas City Chiefs alone to join the Pioneers. Teammates Mecole Hardman and Andrew Wylie were previously brought into the organization to serve as ambassadors.
Trey Smith is a professional football player in the second year of his NFL career. He currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs as their starting right guard.
