While the popularity of esports continues to grow, the acceptance of cryptocurrencies doesn’t seem to be trending in that direction. According to BanklessTimes.com, 63% of British esports fans are unfamiliar with digital assets.
“With the global esports economy expected to grow significantly in 2022, it’s not surprising that cryptocurrency companies have been quick to get involved in sponsoring tournaments and supporting players,” said BanklessTimes.com‘s CEO, Jonathan Merry. “However, what is worrying is the lack of knowledge that many fans have about cryptocurrency. With so much money being pumped into the esports industry by crypto companies, it’s vital that fans are educated about the risks and benefits of investing in digital assets.”
BanklessTimes.com points out that there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding cryptocurrencies, which is one of the main reasons why British esports fans are hesitant to familiarize themselves with digital assets. As pointed out by Nellius Mukuhi, as esports grow and the industry helps educate fans on the benefits of digital assets, it’s likely that people, specifically Brits, will be more open to adopting and embracing cryptocurrencies as well as other assets.
