U.S. PlayStation Shipments Exploded Last Month

David Gibson, a senior analyst at MST Financial, recently studied import documents to determine the number of Sony products shipped to the United States. Gibson said that Sony shipped over 16 million lbs of stock to the U.S. in September.

The previous year, Sony reportedly shipped 3.3 million lbs of stock. Based on this information, Gibson claims that Sony items shipped to the U.S. grew by 400% over the last year.

“Lots of reports of improved PS5 supply in the past few months, but no data until now,” Gibson said. “Import data into the US confirms that Sony Interactive (PlayStation) shipments in Sept. were +400% YoY. Yes, you read that right. Some of that will go into inventory for GoW launch for sure.”

Gibson also provided an analysis of Microsoft and Nintendo products. Xbox’s supply increased 89% year-over-year from 2021 to 2022. Meanwhile, Nintendo shipments are down 59% year-on-year.
