According to new documents that were uncovered by Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), Nintendo Switch Online generated almost $1 billion in revenues last year. This comes following CADE’s recent approval of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.
The documents showed that the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service made $932 million in 2021, which comprises about 10% to 20% of the console multi-game subscription market. Meanwhile, the data revealed that Xbox Game Pass was 30% to 40% of the market while PlayStation made up 40% to 50% of the market.
According to public data from Nintendo and TweakTown, the Switch Online service accounted for 31% of the company’s digital revenues last year as well as 8% of the organization’s dedicated video game earnings. TweakTown reports that the service had 32 million subscribers as of September 2021.
Nintendo Switch Online was launched in 2018. The service currently costs $3.99/month or $19.99/year.
