On October 27th, the NBA 2K League announced that it had suspended six players and one coach following their alleged involvement in a gambling controversy. Christopher Lafanette, Dorian Earl Miller, Robert Nastasi, Zekirri Dennis, Kimanni Ingram, Marquis Gill, and coach Andrew Maxie have all been “disqualified indefinitely” from participating in NBA 2K League activities.
According to the league, Lafanette, Miller, Nastasi, Dennis, and Ingram reportedly “wagered or attempted to wager on NBA 2K League games, either on their own or through other individuals, and also violated the rules by failing to report violations or cooperate fully with the investigation.” Meanwhile, Maxie and Gill were suspended because they failed “to report violations or cooperate fully with the investigation.”
“The integrity of our game is, and always will be, the NBA 2K League’s top priority,” said league president Brendan Donohue, in a statement. “We take our obligation to the competition and to our fans incredibly seriously, and we will always act forcefully regarding violations of the rules governing game integrity and the related reporting and cooperation requirements.”
At this time, no other information has been revealed about the alleged gambling or the punishments that were handed down by the league.
