The ceremony for the 2022 Golden Joystick Awards was recently held on November 22nd. And, to nobody’s surprise, Elden Ring once again took home the hardware, earning the title of Ultimate Game of the Year.
12 titles were nominated for the Ultimate Game of the Year award. Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök, Gran Turismo 7, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 were just some of the other marquee games that Elden Ring beat out to win the award.
Across the board, Elden Ring found success at the ceremony. Besides being named Ultimate Game of the Year, Elden Ring also took home the award for Best Visual Design, Best Multiplayer Game, and the Critics’ Choice Award. On top of that, the game’s developer, FromSoftware, was named Studio of the Year.
Since its release last February, Elden Ring has emerged as both a critical and commercial success. As of November 2022, the game has sold over 17.5 million copies worldwide.
