Square Enix Launching NFT-Focused Video Game Franchise

Square Enix recently announced it would be launching a “new franchise” built around NFTs called Symbiogenesis. The game has been described as the company’s “first digital collectible art project designed from the ground up for Web3 fans.”

The game is set in a self-contained world that has “a wide cast of characters symbiosis, all of which can be collected as digital art.” Moreover, Square Enix promises the game will offer “an interactive story and a dedicated community”.

The “art” featured in this game can be collected by players and used as a character “in a story that takes place in an alternate world where the player can ’untangle’ a mystery by completing missions that revolve around questions of the monopolization and distribution of resources.” Additionally, this art can be used as a profile picture on various social media platforms.

Square Enix will begin selling Symbiogenesis non-fungible tokens this coming spring. On top of that, the company plans on offering a free browser service.
