New Pokémon Games Set A Nintendo Record

Nintendo recently announced that global sales of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet had exceeded 10 million combined units in the three days following the games’ initial November 18th releases. As a result, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have become the fastest-selling games over a three-day period in Nintendo history.

“In a press release, Nintendo attributes the success of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to the game’s many innovations and new features. Most prominent on the list is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s open world structure, allowing players to freely explore and progress along three unique story paths as they please,” writes Game Rant‘s Rory Young. “Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also features for the first time in the main series, co-op for up to four players to travel together. Those are both additions that Pokémon fans have inarguably requested for years.”

This is an incredibly impressive achievement despite the reportedly troubled launch of Scarlet and Violet. As explained by Game Rant, these titles “have been harshly criticized for performance issues” since they were released.
