DotaValkyries Project Launches To Increase Female Presence In Esports

A new project called DotaValkyries has been launched to increase the presence of women in the Dota esports community. The organization said it will be split up into two divisions. One part will focus on trying to improve “reach and quality-of-life for Dota streamers,” and another part will consult with competitive organizations to “ensure representation is kept.”

DotaValkyries was founded by Emma Brown. Brown is best known as an ambassador for Women in Gaming International (WIGI). She is also a famous gamer who plays under the name “ValkyrjaRuby.”

At this time, the initiative has no plans to form any teams. The organization also “has not shared specifics in regard to how more women will be recruited.”

“This is an amazing initiative that has been much needed for a long time. Kudos to the team working on making DotaValkyries a reality,” said Kelly Ong, the CSO at Alliance. “I cannot wait to follow and support this mission.”
