The British Esports Association (BEA) has begun lobbying for esports tournaments organized specifically for gamers with disabilities. This comes as three disabled gamers have been taking part in this year’s Association of Colleges’ FIFA Cup which runs through May.
“We’re hoping that we can take what they’re doing as a pilot,” said Tom Dore of BEA. “We’re intending to speak to Microsoft about the opportunities to get a group of colleges like National Star involved in a pilot competition like this because the impact that they’ve seen is huge.”
According to BBC News, three disabled gamers are taking part in the FIFA Cup this year. Students participating in the event will play in weekly matches from now through May. The results of these contests will then be posted online.
