Samsung Launches “Samsung Combat Arena” 2021

Samsung Sri Lanka recently announced the launch of “Samsung Combat Arena” 2021, a Mortal Kombat 11 esports tournament with a prize pool of 500,000 Rs (~$6,635). The event is scheduled to take place on April 24th at One Galle Face Mall in Colombo.

This comes as part of Samsung’s effort to expand esports in Sri Lanka over the last few years. Samsung completed three large-large scale gaming tournaments in 2020 alone in Sri Lanka. They registered 1,000 total participants and averaged 175,000 streamers for each tournament.

“The ‘Samsung Combat Arena 2021’ is a milestone for us in promoting E-sports in Sri Lanka. It is our 4th such event for gamers and movie lovers alike and is part of our growing platform for further developing E-sports and empowering the youth of Sri Lanka,” said Samsung Sri Lanka Managing Director Kevin SungSu You. “We look forward to hosting even more events like this in the future and seeing E-sports in Sri Lanka move up to the next level taking local gamers to greater heights and ultimately to the global arena.”

Registration for the tournament ends at 10:00 am EST on April 24th, when the event is scheduled to take place. As of noon on April 21st, 243 gamers have signed up to participate in the event.
