On May 20th, Opera Limited launched Opera GX Mobile, the world’s first mobile browser designed specifically for gamers. The company has stated that a complete rollout of the service will “take place in a few weeks.”
“Since the day we launched Opera GX, our users have relentlessly asked us for a mobile version of the browser,” said Maciej Kocemba, the product director of Opera GX. “Today, we are happy to share the first beta version of the new browser.”
Opera GX was launched in June of 2019 to provide gamers with a better browsing experience. Earlier this year, the organization founded its Opera Gaming division to unite the company’s innovative efforts across all gaming platforms.
Opera is a multi-platform web browser developed by Opera Software in 1995. The company now serves over 350 million global users.
The Profit‘s Take:
Opera has already made a concerted effort to go after gamers with their GX browser. No surprise that they would want to capture mobile gamers as well. However, I suspect the mobile version will struggle more than the desktop product. A large majority of mobile users simply use the default browser bundled with their phone because of better integration with the OS.
