600 Festival Launches Motor Mania Esports Event

On May 26th, Carolina Fintech Hub’s Youth Technology Apprenticeship Camp (YTAC) launched a brand new event from 600 Festival. The Motor Mania tournament allowed participants to compete against one another over five days for money that would go towards a college scholarship.

“May is such a big month for racing in our region, and historically, we’ve marked the occasion with a series of events that culminates with Circle K Speed Street,” said Greg Walter, the president of the 600 Festival board of directors. “This year, with Circle K Speed Street taking place in October, we wanted another way to celebrate one of racing’s biggest months. Motor Mania was a perfect fit, giving us the opportunity to dive into the gaming space and help out local seniors on their way to college.”

Motor Mania was held at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. The event was live-streamed via the 600 Festival social media channels.

32 high school seniors participated in the Rocket League tournament. The program began on May 26th with a series of 2v2 tournaments leading up to a pro-am event on May 29th. The Grand Finals took place the next day.
