Hotwire Launches New Fantasy Basketball Game

On May 21st, Hotwire announced it was launching a new edition of the Hotwire Effect game. The title was officially made available to download the next day.

The free-to-play game was designed by DraftKings to challenge users to make matchup predictions based on NBA statistics rather than player names. As a result, gamers must make their guesses without knowing the name of the player they are picking, only their stats. Once the NBA game begins, the players’ names that were picked will be revealed.

There will be five total contests. Three took place on May 22nd, May 28th, and June 7th while two more events are scheduled for June 14th and June 22nd. Each competition features a $5,000 prize pool.

“The Hotwire Effect is what makes Hotwire different from other travel sites. By revealing the property name after booking is complete, not only do we enable travelers to stay in amazing hotels for the same price they would have paid for a less-great hotel – we give them the satisfaction of knowing that they shopped a bit smarter than everyone else,” said Melissa Postier, the Brand Director for Hotwire. “The Hotwire Effect Series seeks to give players that same rush – that their skill and intuition allowed them to be able to draft a better team than their competition.”

Hotwire is one of the world’s most famous discount travel brands. The company was originally founded in 2000 and is currently owned by the Expedia Group.
