Facebook Gaming recently unveiled the company was expanding its monetization features. As a result, streamers that use the website will now have more opportunities to make money through Facebook Gaming thanks to the expansion of the organization’s donation tool and the introduction of in-stream advertisements.
Stars is a way for live stream viewers to support their favorite content creators live. The company announced it will now begin testing Stars VOD which allows users to send stars while watching gaming VOD content.
“As a VOD creator, you can set a Stars goal for videos in your creator dashboard and track it in real-time against Stars received from your viewers,” it reads on the Facebook Gaming website. “For Stars-eligible VOD content, a Stars ticker will display messages that contain Stars, and animations will play when Stars are sent. To help deepen the connection between creators and their fans, we’ve added tools for creators to respond individually, or in batches, to Star senders.”
Facebook will also begin introducing live breaks into streams. This new form of advertisement will be used to earn content creators money while keeping viewers entertained.
Lastly, the organization announced it was expanding its Level Up program to nine new territories including Hong Kong, Kenya, Nigeria, Norway, Paraguay, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Venezuela. The Level Up program is now available in over 80 countries worldwide.
