On June 2nd, the Elanor Crook Foundation (ECF) announced it was launching the LifePack initiative. This project aims to unite the video game industry in the fight against childhood malnutrition.
Gamers can make contributions by making in-game purchases. Every 25 cents raised through LifePack will provide a child with one life-saving Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) packet. It is being reported that malnourished children should be having these packets three times a day.
“For millions of children around the world, malnutrition is not a game,” said William Moore, CEO of the Eleanor Crook Foundation. “Each year, malnutrition claims far too many lives and COVID-19 has made the situation even worse. The good news is that there are proven, scalable, and cost-effective ways to help children in need – and now everyone has the ability to join that effort, right from their own living rooms.”
LifePack‘s first gaming partner is Tilting Point’s SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off. Through July 9th, players that make in-game purchases will see proceeds go directly towards life-saving treatments for malnourished children.
