The Isle of Man, a self-governing British Crown dependency, recently announced the government had chosen to sponsor the island’s first professional esports team, X7 Esports. The organization also received a sponsorship from Digital Isle of Man, a part of the government’s Department of Enterprise.
Digital Isle of Man will be supporting X7 Esports with funding. This money will be used on things like player salaries, apparel, and coaching resources. Digital Isle of Man will also be prominently displayed on X7 Esports jerseys.
“Esports is a fast-growing industry on the Isle of Man, and we are delighted to be able to support X7 on their journey,” said Chris Kissack, Digital Isle of Man’s head of esports. “As the Island’s first professional esports org competing in a recognized tournament within the industry, it is a very exciting opportunity and demonstrates that the Isle of Man is well-placed to support other such initiatives looking to grow and develop.”
X7 Esports is a recently formed British esports organization located on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. The team was founded in December of 2020.
