On June 24th, KFC Gaming, the official esports arm of Kentucky Fried Chicken, announced it was launching the KFC Gaming Arcade Showdown. This nostalgic arcade esports tournament will give participants a chance to win a Hot Winger 64 arcade machine, which is a gaming arcade cabinet custom-built by KFC, and $41.4K in cash prizes.
Beginning on June 25th, players will have a chance to sign up to participate in esports tournaments each week. Gamers will compete in titles like Tetris, Space Invaders, and another nostalgic mystery game “chosen by members of the community.”
16 content creators will face off against one another over three weeks. The competition began on June 28th and runs through July 9th which is when the event’s Grand Finals will be held.
