New Research Shows Mobile Game Downloads And Spending Rose During Q1 Of 2021

App Annie and market research company IDC recently released The Gaming Spotlight report. According to their research, mobile gaming downloads and spending on mobile games grew during the first quarter of 2021.

According to the survey, consumers spent $1.7 billion per week on mobile games during the first quarter of 2021. This signifies a 40% increase from pre-COVID levels.

Meanwhile, mobile game downloads increased by 30% during Q1. The report said that over a billion games were downloaded weekly on iOS and Google Play.

“Every trend that we see in terms of how the market is playing out, gaming continues to be the tip of the spear on mobile,” said App Annie CEO Ted Krantz in an interview with GamesBeat. “There are opportunities in in-app purchases and lifetime value that will add more strength to the hardcore. But hypercasual and casual are playing a pivotal role in advertising, especially post IDFA.”
