New Game Mode In “Fortnite” Looks Very Similar To “Among Us”

On August 17th, Epic Games launched a new game mode in Fortnite that is very similar to the popular game Among Us. According to The Verge, Fortnite: Impostors copies the game mechanics of Among Us.

Impostors mode forces 10 Fortnite players to go against one another. The group must work together to figure out who is the person that’s trying to sabotage the game. Agents work to complete tasks while the impostors do what they can to slow the group down.

“It would’ve been really, really cool to collab,” said Victoria Tran, the game director for Among Us. “Like game mechanics, fine, those shouldn’t be gatekept, but at the very least even different themes or terminology makes things more interesting?”

Among Us is an online multiplayer game that was developed by Innersloth in 2018. The title has a starting price of $5.

The Profit‘s Take:

In the short term, Fortnite has the ability to knock off any game mode or any game developer they want. However, if imitation is their only source of innovation, eventually someone will displace them.
