Kambi Group Acquires Abios For $17.5M, Deal Could Eventually Be Worth $31.5M

Kambi Group recently announced it had acquired the esports data and technology company Abios for $17.54 million in cash. Additionally, $14 million will be paid to the company in earnouts based on product development and organizational performance. As a result, the whole acquisition could eventually be worth $31.57 million.

“Earlier this year we started talking to Abios and we saw that this actually could be a really good opportunity. It (esports data) is still quite early days but we really connected with the people that are in the organization. We could see how we could complement each other in so many areas between traditional sports and esports,” said  Kambi Group’s COO Erik Lögdberg. “For a couple of years now we have been interested in strengthening our business, through M&A…. So we’ve been actively looking at all the various parts of our current operation where there could be interesting opportunities.

Abios’ CEO, Oskar Fröberg, and CTO, Anton Janér, will remain in their current leadership roles following the organization’s acquisition.

Abios Esports API was founded in 2013 and is currently headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The organization has eight offices in eight different countries around the globe.
