Esports Team Partners Revealed For “Halo” Championship Series

343 Industries and Microsoft recently revealed the nine organizations that will be taking part in the rebooted Halo Championship Series (HCS). The nine teams expected to compete in the tournament are Cloud9, eUnited, Faze Clan, Fnatic, G2 Esports, NAVI, Sentinels, Spacestation Gaming, and Team Envy.

According to an official HCS blog post, teams were selected based on the amount of money they plan to invest in the Halo ecosystem. The financial terms of these partnerships have not been revealed at this time.

“Teams play a supercritical role in the success of esports, and that role is increasing all the time. First and foremost, they provide financial stability for the players in the scene,” said Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic, the Halo Esports Lead at Microsoft and 343 Industries. “For long-term sustainability,  players cannot rely solely on prize money, so it’s important that there are ways for players to receive regular, reliable financial support to pursue competing. Creating content and streaming is also another great way for pro players to earn income.”

The Halo Championship Series was originally founded in 2014. It is expected that the 2021 HCS will be centered around the upcoming game Halo: Infinite, which is scheduled to hit stores this coming November.
