New Report Shows Growth Of PC Gaming Market Expected To Continue Well Into 2021

A new report was recently released by the International Data Corporation (IDC). According to his research, the PC gaming market grew by 10.8% year-over-year during the second quarter of 2021 in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In fact, the study showed 2.5 million gaming computers were shipped to these regions during Q2 2021.

“Esports is breaking records in terms of number of consumers,” said Marko Mihailovic, a senior research analyst for IDC Western Europe. “Lots of viewers on Twitch, YouTube, and even cable television networks are trying gaming themselves, which is powering PC gaming demand as well. During the lockdown measures, gaming stores such as Steam and Epic Games are taking the place of social networks, bringing people together and not just in terms of buying games and streaming but also for socializing with gamers with similar interests.”

The IDC also showed that this industry growth is believed to continue into the next quarter of 2021. Q3 2021 is expected to grow at a rate of 6.1% year-over-year. Additionally, the fourth quarter of this year will experience a 4.8% rise in sales year-over-year.

The IDC says that the PC gaming market will ship 11.4 million units by 2025. This would signify a five-year compound annual growth rate of 2.5%.
