“Candy Crush Saga” Esports Tournament Begins

People have begun re-thinking their definition of esports. This comes after Candy Crush All Stars U.S. was announced, a high-stakes esports tournament that pins the best Candy Crush Saga players in the country against one another.

Khloe Kardashian is expected to be the event’s host. The tournament series is open to all Candy Crush Saga players level 25 or higher on Android and iOS devices.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I think I’m the most competitive in my family, and it’s no different when it comes to Candy Crush,” Kardashian said in a press release. “The All-Stars tournament offers the perfect opportunity to take my crushing skills to the next level. I wish the best of luck to everyone playing and look forward to crowning the first-ever Candy Crush All Star! For now, get those fingers warmed up and get practicing!”

The qualifying round of the event began on September 23rd. The tournament’s finals are scheduled for October 7th.

The Profit‘s Take:

I guess we’re just calling anything an esport now? Having said that, this is a great activation. This is going to get a ton of viewers, mainly because there is a Kardashian attached to it. This is great for esports. I’m a big fan of this.
