Electronic Arts Inc. recently announced it would be delaying the release of Battlefield 2042. The organization said the game will now be launched globally on Friday, November 19th.
DICE’s Studio general manager, Oskar Gabrielson, said the team aimed to create the best product possible for fans. However, the process of developing the game was greatly hindered by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“Building the next generation of Battlefield during a global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges for our development teams,” Gabrielson said. “Given the scale and scope of the game, we had hoped our teams would be back in our studios together as we move towards launch. With the ongoing conditions not allowing that to happen safely, and with all the hard work the teams are doing from home, we feel it is important to take the extra time to deliver on the vision of Battlefield 2042 for our players.”
Battlefield 2042 is the 17th installment in the series and the first game to be created in the franchise since 2018. The title was originally expected to be released on October 22nd.
