Qualcomm recently unveiled the company had partnered with Microsoft and Valve. Together, these parties helped Qualcomm launch a new wi-fi technology that improves internet connection quality and learning services necessary for gaming.
With help from Microsoft and Valve, Qualcomm was able to launch its Wi-Fi Dual Station. This function allows individual products to act as two simultaneously operating wi-fi devices. As a result, users will finally have a wi-fi-based solution to game-disrupting latency and jitters.
“Online gaming is extremely sensitive to latency, so long-term low latency is in many cases more important to the end-user experience than throughput. And you don’t even need test systems to understand this, because it’s not hard to experience it for yourself: latency and high-latency events — called jitter — will disrupt your responses so much that your brain tries to give up. With 4-stream Dual Band Simultaneous, we are now delivering Ethernet-class latency over Wi-Fi,” said Tim McCarthy, Senior Director at Qualcomm.
Qualcomm’s new wi-fi technology was officially launched on October 5th. These features are available for use on select Windows 11 devices.
