Roblox And Insomniac Launch Virtual Music Festival

Roblox recently announced it had agreed to a partnership with the music events promoter Insomniac. As a result of this deal, the two parties will work together to bring the world’s largest dance music festival, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), to the Roblox metaverse.

The virtual music festival ran on the Roblox platform from October 23rd to the 25th. A Virtual pre-show event was aired on October 22nd.

“To partner and create with a metaverse leader like Roblox is an exciting opportunity for Insomniac. Bringing people from all over the world together through art and experience is a goal we’re always working hard to achieve, and together with Roblox we are able to expand this into the digital world,” said Pasquale Rotella, CEO of music promoter Insomniac, in a statement. “This experience takes the creativity and inspiration behind EDC and all other festivals and events to new heights.”

This experience featured five “party all-night tents” in the Roblox metaverse. Over 50 artists will be showcased at this event, including Kaskade, Zedd, Alison Wonderland, Louis the Child, and so on. These artists’ performances will be streamed across all five virtual stages.

The Profit‘s Take:

They did mention the word “metaverse” this time, so good on Roblox and Insomniac. This collaboration seems obvious. Roblox is running away with metaverse collabs. Meanwhile, Fortnite, who had everything to lose in the space, has been lagging in this area. It seems like Roblox has one-upped them in almost every metaverse-related department. I like the idea of characters dancing. My virtual avatar dancing is probably much more enjoyable than watching me dance in real life. I like these activations, but they definitely don’t feel like the endgame for the metaverse. This could also work well with GTA. You could make the argument that they have created their own metaverse with all the modding and updates they have been making to GTA V over the years.
