Ubisoft Files Trademark Update For Splinter Cell

Ubisoft submitted an application to update the trademarking for the term Splinter Cell on December 6th. According to TheGamer, this suggests that a new installment in the Splinter Cell franchise “could be in the works.”

Following this news, Ubisoft Toronto confirmed development had already begun on a new Splinter Cell game. According to a press release, Ubisoft has “greenlit the development of a Splinter Cell remake that will draw from the rich canvas of the brand.”

The game will reportedly be built on the Snowdrop Engine. This product is also being used by Ubisoft in the organization’s upcoming Avatar and Star Wars games.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell is a stealth shooter video game franchise that was first launched by Ubisoft in 2002. This remake would be the first game to be released in the series since Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist came out in 2013.
