Team Vitality Receives $56M Investment, Announces CS:GO Roster Signings

Team Vitality recently announced the organization received an investment of $56.8 million from the esports venture fund Rewired.gg. These funds, which will be distributed throughout the company over the next three years, will be used to help the business develop “European super teams.”

Team Vitality has already used some of the money invested by Rewired.gg to expand its competitive CS:GO roster. Following this announcement, the team signed three individuals: Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, Emil “magisk” Reif, and coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen.

“This scale of talent investment has never been seen in esports before and I am honored to be leading the charge with these rosters which have the potential to make history in Europe and beyond,” said Fabien Devide, the Esports Director at Team Vitality. “Since the beginning of our entrance into CS:GO, we have been working with intensity to get to the top and nurture some of the best talent France has to offer. It’s now time to think internationally and create a new CS:GO culture of European talent with legacy athletes. As proven winners, dupreeh, magisk, and zonic have what it takes to move us from not just being a strong contender, but the best CS:GO team in the world.”

Team Vitality is a world-famous gaming organization that has nine competitive squads playing eight different hit video game titles. The Paris, France-based company was founded in 2013.

The Profit‘s Take:

This easily could have been one of the three biggest esports investments of 2021, but this announcement was made in 2022, so it just missed the cut. At least this is a different business strategy. 100 Thieves has been saying “we are going to do merchandise and everything else.” Team Vitality is saying they just want to build super teams. It’s a flawed strategy, but it’s still a strategy nonetheless. The investing company caught my attention. A quick search showed that it is a major gaming fund and that Rewired.gg invested 68% of the fund’s money into this endeavor! They are placing a HUGE bet on one thing. I don’t see this going well for them at all, but you still have to admire their conviction.
