Despite setbacks caused by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Steam has continued to experience immense growth since the start of 2020. According to SteamDB, the platform broke a company record with more than 28 million concurrent viewers/players on January 9th.
This is a huge jump from 2020 when the record was only 18.3 million concurrent players. Last year, the record for most concurrent gamers on Steam topped out at just over 25 million people.
Many familiar titles dominated the list of Steam’s most-played games for January 9th. Some of the titles that were played the most that day included CS:GO, Dota 2, PUBG, Apex Legends, and Grand Theft Auto V.
