Caroline Young Leaves WNBA To Lead Partnerships At Evil Geniuses

Esports and gaming company, Evil Geniuses, has named former Vice President of Corporate Partnerships for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, Caroline Young, to direct its corporate partnership deals. In her new role, Young will focus on identifying, negotiating, and securing new partnerships that expand the Seattle-based company’s brand recognition to broader audiences.

“Cay Young is one of the foremost leaders in corporate sponsorships in the sports world and will play a pivotal role for Evil Geniuses as we welcome new brands into the gaming and esports industry,” said Nicole LaPointe Jameson, CEO of Evil Geniuses. “During her time with the Los Angeles Sparks, Young proved over and over that she is an expert at identifying influential brands and building the trust with them that’s required to be successful together.”

Young had been with the Los Angeles Sparks since 2016, and during her tenure negotiated deals including a jersey partnership with Equitrust Life Insurance. She led the team to top the WNBA in sponsorship revenue in both 2019 and 2020.

Founded in 1999, Evil Geniuses is a group of esports teams that compete in games like VALORANT and League of Legends. The company has partnerships with consumer brands including Monster Energy, Coinbase, Bud Light, Elysian Brewing, and Absolut. Evil Geniuses also has a partnership with the Wolverhampton Wanderers, an English Premier League soccer team.
