Utica College Joins East Coast Conference Esports, Announces Plans For An Esports Center

Utica College recently accepted an invitation to join East Coast Conference Esports for competitive events on a national stage. Additionally, school president Laura Casamento announced that a state-of-the-art esports center will soon be built at the school.

“This news is a credit to the members of the Esports Club, who took the initiative and helped us understand the benefits of adding this fast-growing sport to our institution,” said Jeffery Gates, Utica College’s senior vice president for student life and enrollment. “It’s an inclusive sport that will attract a new generation of students and bolster our recruitment and retention efforts.”

The new facility will be located inside of Bull Hall at the school’s Carbone Auditorium. It will feature 30 computer stations, a stage for competitions, seating for announcers, couches for spectators, and so much more.

Utica College is a private school located in central New York that was founded in 1946. There were over 3,300 students enrolled at the college during the Fall 2020 semester.
