According to The Verge, Epic Games is making an effort to hire contingent workers as full-time employees with benefits. Based on a memo that was obtained by the publication, this offer has been extended to quality assurance (QA) testers as well as other “eligible” contract-based employees.
In the aforementioned memo, Epic said that it will “offer full-time at-will employment to eligible US-based contingent workers.” Also, the company wrote that “many of those offers” will take effect on April 4th, 2022. However, some workers will not be eligible to receive this offer because “it makes sense for both the worker and Epic to maintain contingent worker status.”
Elka Looks, a spokesperson for Epic Games, said that the company plans on hiring “a few hundred” contractors. “Most but not all” of these individuals will be quality assurance (QA) testers.
Workers that are given full-time employment will be eligible to sign up for the organization’s U.S. employee benefits plans. These lucky individuals will be directly employed by Epic Games.
Looks also said that the company will hire contingent workers for “short-term needs.” However, she didn’t have additional information about the types of contingent workers that Epic will be hiring outside of QA testers.
