Turnt Gaming recently announced it raised $4.3 million in a funding round to build a fighting game on blockchain technologies. This money will be used to launch Taunt Battleworld, a skill-based fighting game simulator featuring icons like Floyd Mayweather and Cris Cyborg.
This round of funding was led by Polygon’s gaming NFT arm, Polygon Studios. Additional participation came from AU21 Capital, GenBlock Capital, Shima Capital, and more.
“Not only are we partnering with Turnt Gaming to bring their NFT based game to life with our blockchain solution, but we are pleased to be a part of this funding round as well,” Shreyansh Singh, the head of investments for polygon, said in a statement. “We anticipate this funding to be just the start of a prosperous and successful relationship as we continue to support Polygon’s gaming sector with Taunt Battleworld.”
An NFT drop for the game was held on March 5th, 2022. During this event, which was called “Skull Pass,” players were allowed to buy up to 2,500 NFT fighter passes, which give holders access to one NFT fighter as well as a variety of other special benefits.
