The Indian video game tournament platform Gamerji recently announced the organization raised $1.1 million in a pre-season Series A funding round. This round of investing was led by Unicorn India Ventures.
This money will be used to “build social features” within the platform while helping the company expand into the Southeast Asian and MENA regions. Additionally, these funds will enhance the business’ tournament organization technologies and practices.
“At Gamerji, we strive to provide gamers with a platform to begin their esports journey by participating in daily competitive tournaments, building their stats, and stand a chance to make a mark in the gaming world. Esports is still at a very early stage in India and there is a lot of talent that needs to be explored,” said Soham Thacker, the Founder of Gamerji. “Gamerji intends to be a platform of choice where gamers can showcase their skills, build their stats & grow the community. We are glad to receive constant support from Unicorn India Ventures along with our other investors.”
Gamerji was founded in 2019 as a way to bridge the gap between amateur and professional gamers. The organization reportedly hosts over 200 video game tournaments daily across multiple titles.
